  Digital X-Ray- Digital (Computer based) X-rays are quickly becoming the standard in dental imaging. Digital Panorex X-rays allow Dr. Stanley to get a comprehensive view of your teeth, bone, and Tempro-mandibular joints. Other possible dental problems such as tumors or osteonecrosis can also be screened for as well. A digital imaging software program, Logicon Caries Detector, also provides Dr. Stanley with a computer analysis of potential areas of dental decay (caries) found on digital X-ray. It prints a picture of the tooth and indicates "in color" where an area of decay is found. Digital X-rays are not only an excellent diagnostic aide, but they can decrease radiation exposure to the patient by up to 80%.
The single xray shown at the right provides a great deal of information about this patients mouth. It shows two teeth with existing root canals, old fillings, a broken molar, and a possible sinus infection. Planning necessary treatment without it would be imposible. |
