Lumineers

"Lumineers are simply the best way to transform your smile if you are unhappy with the shape, color, and overall appearance of your smile."

William A. Stanley D.D.S.

Lumineers are extremely thin porcelain veneers made of Cerinate Porcelain that are bonded to the front surfaces of the 8-10 teeth normally shown when smiling. They can create a new, beautiful smile in two appointments by dramatically changing the color and shape of the teeth. This can usually be accomplished without needing shots because the teeth are normally left "in tact" beneath the Lumineer restorations. Minor enamel reshaping replaces traditional "drilling and tooth prepation"

  • Ultrabond which is used to bond Lumineers is the only bonding system that has been proven to last over 20 years.
  • Lumineer restorations are gauranteed by DenMat Corporation (the maker of Lumineers and Ultrabond) for five years or will be replaced for free.
  • Cerinate Smile Studios specializes in creating the most ideal "smile design" for each person. By using your personal models and photographs of your face and smile they can help create a smile that looks beautiful and natural.
  • Cerinate Porcelain, used in Lumineers can be shaped and polished once they are placed in the mouth to have the same appearance as enamel. This means that you and Dr. Stanley can customize the final appearance of any tooth.
  • I recently examined one of my patients that we had placed "veneers and a crown" with Ultrabond on over 20 years ago. They still looked great and she still loved her smile. We laughed that she had " near Lumineer treatment" long before it had a name.

Wrap-around Porcelain restorations are necessary when teeth already have have decay, weak fillings and badly damaged enamel "between the teeth". Although the damaged or weakened enamel must be removed to insure proper fit and a lasting restoration, this still leaves as much healthy tooth "in tact" as possible. This procedure, however, usually does require some "anesthetic" for your total comfort. Although Cerinate Porcelain may be used, this type of restoration is not a traditional Lumineer. It can still be matched with traditional Lumineers on the other teeth to insure an ideal smile.

When placing Lumineers and other coordinating porcelain restorations, we pay close attention to your surrounding teeth, and design each restoration to complement the overall natural appearance of your smile. The result is a beautiful, attractive new smile that looks like you!

Procedure

Before we ever begin treatment in your mouth we take impressions of your teeth and do a preview "Smile Makeover" on your dental model. Photographs may also be taken to help create the "ideal smile". Once you see the changes needed for your new smile, we are ready to start treatment.

The first treatment appointment begins with minimal enamel shaping and a final impression for the "master models". The "master models" of the teeth as well as the "pre-approved" models are sent to the Cerinate Smile Studios along with detailed instructions about color and translucency. In most cases temporary restorations are not needed, since your teeth will still look and feel much the same as when you arrived.

Your second visit to the office is about 2 weeks later. The procedure will then be to bond each Lumineer with Ultrabond precisely onto the tooth once the color and shape are verified. Final shaping allows you and Dr. Stanley to adjust the appearance to create the most ideal look. It can truly change the way you feel about yourself and your smile.
